A Team of Physicians Support Each Patient

Located in Newport Beach, California, The Landon Institute was founded in 2014 by a group of board certified physicians of varying specialties that have teamed together to treat addiction and its corresponding physical and mental illnesses. All addictions are the manifestations of pain, whether biological, mental, or spiritual. While much of the behavioral health community is busy focusing on the symptoms of chemical dependency, our doctors are focused on diagnosing the root causes of this pain that prompted the response to self-medicate in the first place.

Our initial responsibility to each patient is to identify this root pain and to then treat it with mental and physical healing. Not only do we address the causes of use, but our doctors also treat the mental and biological ramifications of drug and alcohol use as well. Our medical group is comprised of an Addictionologist, Psychiatrist, Primary care physician, Pain Management doctor, and a Hepatologist. Our clinical team also consists of a psychologist, drug and alcohol counselor, nurses, and medical assistants.

Here at The Landon Institute, our doctors have established a four-step process for the medical rehabilitation of patients that are suffering from drug and alcohol addiction.

Here at The Landon Institute, our doctors have established a four-step process for the medical rehabilitation of patients that are suffering from drug and alcohol addiction.

Step 1 is detoxification. In this initial stage, our doctors initiate the detox phase of recovery by prescribing a detox protocol depending on the patient’s history of chemical dependency.

Step 2 is what is known as Medication Assisted Therapy. Here our doctors employ medication as a relapse prevention tool. These medications consist namely of Buprenorphine and Naltrexone. The Buprenorphine is often called Suboxone and is prescribed orally. For Naltrexone, or physicians typically administer an injection which lasts for about 30 days or they perform a minimally invasive procedure called the Naltrexone Implant which can last up to 6 months.

Step 3 focuses on Health & Wellness. In this phase we conduct diagnostic testing and blood work to determine what if any ailments our patients may possess. From this we can begin repairing the body by treating with one of our board certified physicians who will establish a treatment plan to regain optimal restoration.

And finally, Step 4 consists of Mental Health. Here our Psychiatrist will assess the mental and emotional wellbeing of our patients. We provide personalized Dual Diagnosis plans that address all underlying Mental issues fueling the patient’s response to self-medicate with drugs and alcohol. Our Board Certified Psychiatrists diagnose often unrecognized or poorly managed psychiatric and emotional disorders such as Depression, ADHD, Anxiety and Bipolar Disorder. Once diagnosed, we begin to treat these root issues with psychiatric medication and managed care.
